Winners of the Medtec Europe Start-Up Academy 2017

Startup Aquandas

Highlights of the Medtec Europe 2017 Start-Up Academy

For the third year running, Medtec Europe hosted the Start-Up Academy on-site at the 2017 show in Stuttgart, bringing together the most exciting young companies from across Europe to showcase the latest innovations in medical device technology.

We received applications from enterprises across Europe looking to showcase their innovations and selected 15 finalists who exhibited on-site at the show and presented in the Start-Up Forum.

In addition, we asked our Medtec Europe visitors and Advisory Board to vote for the organisations they felt had the most potential to make an impact on the market. They selected one winner and on runner-up.

First prize goes to Aquandas

Acquandas, as OEM supplier, envisions providing the technological solution for next generation minimal invasive implants, by exploiting the unique opportunities that its microsystem fabrication process offers: the fabrication of ultra-precise, flexible Nitinol-based implants that are equipped e.g. with an array of micro-electrodes for bioelectric sensing and stimulation. Its technology therefore enables disruptive therapies in the neuromodulation field, such as minimally invasive, intravascular deep brain stimulation.

Runner-up and highly commended was BeyonDevices

BeyonDevices is the technology-transfer, research & development spin-off unit of NEUTROPLAST, S.A. We are specialized in product development that requires different technologies and a profound knowledge of manufacturing. Our main objective is to give healthcare practitioners a viable adherence tool that can balance costs and patient compliance. To that end, BeyonDevices has developed a series of patented and ergonomic vaginal applicators – the EasyGyn Family, designed for treatments requiring vaginal drug delivery
